International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8, recognizing and appreciating women’s political, economic and social achievements over the decades. Woman’s Day was first observed in 1909 in the United States and it is only in 1977 that the United Nations officially declared International Women’s Day celebration on March 8. An event which started as a political affair has evolved over the years. “ Empowering Women is Empowering Humanity.” On this occasion, we should endeavor building a better world where men and women live harmoniously, free of violence and discrimination.” Theme for International Womens Day 2019 is “ Think equal, build smart and innovate for change.”

On 20 th December 2013, at 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided to proclaim   3 th March, the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife Day , which was proposed by Thailand, To Celebrate and Raise Awareness of the World's Wild Fauna and Flora. Wildlife is a precious gift of God to this planet. Wildlife plays a major important role in balancing the environment. “ World Wetlands Day ” occurs annually on February 2 nd , marking the date of the adoption of the “Ramsar Convention” on Wetlands on February 2, 1971. World Wetlands Day is raised to spread awareness about the value of Wetlands for humanity and the planet. Theme for World Wetlands Day 2019 is “Wetlands and Climate Change” Wetlands are a critical part of our natural environment. They protect our shores from wave action, reduce the impacts of floods, absorb pollutants and improve water quality. They provide habitat for animals and plants and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else.
